Can you do built-up crown and multi-piece profiles?

Yes. Anything from single-piece runs to tall built-up cornices stacked from two or more profiles. Built-up is how you scale crown up to a nine-foot-plus ceiling without paying for one giant solid profile to get there.

How do you keep miters and copes from opening up later?

Inside corners get coped instead of mitered, returns and outside miters get glued and fastened, and we account for seasonal wood movement. That's what keeps joints closed through a Tennessee winter and keeps trim callbacks off your punch list.

Trim runs everywhere a hand lands, and an open joint is the callback that comes back most, so we cope and glue the whole package and fasten it into framing. What that covers:

Casing wrapped clean around every opening, mitered or butted to match the house, with stool-and-apron or picture-frame at the windows. (See casing styles and how to trim a window.)

Moulding & Trim questions, answered.

Both, and we spec them differently. Paint-grade gets a painter to fill and caulk after us, so we run joints that are tight and consistent and let the paint do the rest. Stain-grade gets hand-selected stock and joinery that closes on its own, because there's no caulk or filler to hide behind. Call the grade by area on the finish schedule and we'll bid each to the right standard.
