We cope inside corners rather than mitering them, so the joint holds tight even when the drywall bows a little or the framing moves with a season of humidity. Outside corners get mitered and glued, not just nailed, so they don't open into the hairline shadow you see on rushed jobs. On walls longer than a stick of stock, we scarf the runs at 45 degrees over a stud so the seam disappears. That's the work behind crown molding and trim.
