Commercial Door and Hardware Install
Commercial door and hardware installation for East Tennessee general contractors. Hollow metal and wood doors hung, knockdown and welded frames set, and every leaf dressed out to the hardware schedule. Install only, built to the submittals.
Commercial Doors & Hardware
Commercial door and hardware installation in Knoxville.
We hang commercial doors and dress out the hardware for general contractors across East Tennessee. The GC or a supplier furnishes the doors, frames, and hardware off the submittals, and we provide the labor. We assemble and set knockdown frames, hang hollow metal and wood veneer leaves in knockdown and welded frames, and install the finish hardware on each opening to its hardware set: closers, exit devices, locksets, and plates. It’s install-only work, done to the approved detail, and it has to pass inspection. Send the door and hardware schedule and we’ll bid the labor to it.
What We Hang
Hollow metal and wood door installation.
Hollow metal and wood veneer doors, in knockdown or welded hollow-metal frames. We set the frame where it’s our scope, hang the leaf, and get the swing and the reveals right.
Hollow metal doors
Steel doors on exterior, utility, mechanical, and rated openings, from makers like Steelcraft, Ceco, and Curries. We hang them to the frame with the hinges on the schedule, set the clearances, and dress them out.
Wood veneer doors
Solid-core wood doors through offices, corridors, and institutional interiors. They get the same install standard: hung true to the frame, with even reveals and clearances set so the door latches and closes.
Knockdown frames
Hollow-metal frames that ship flat and get set in the opening after the wall's up. We assemble them, set them plumb and square, anchor them off, and hang the leaf.
Welded frames
One-piece hollow-metal frames, usually set in masonry before the wall goes up. We hang and dress the leaves in them, and shim and adjust so the door swings right and the reveals hold.
Dressing Out The Leaf
Door hardware installation, set to the schedule.
Every opening comes with a hardware set off the schedule. The set names the manufacturer, and we install to it, whether that’s Von Duprin, LCN, Schlage, Sargent, or another line. We dress each leaf out to its set and adjust the pieces that need it, so the door closes, latches, and holds the way the spec calls for.
- Hinges: butt, spring, and continuous hinges
- Closers: surface-mounted and concealed, adjusted to the opening (LCN, Norton, Sargent)
- Locksets and handle sets: cylindrical, mortise, and lever trim (Schlage, Sargent, Corbin Russwin, Best)
- Exit devices and panic hardware: rim, mortise, and vertical-rod devices (Von Duprin, Precision, Sargent)
- Kick, mop, and armor plates
- Stops, holders, coordinators, and flush bolts
- Weatherstripping, gasketing, sweeps, and thresholds on exterior and rated openings
Electrified Hardware
We set it; they wire it.
Some openings carry electrified hardware: an electric strike, an electrified lever or exit device, a mag lock, a power transfer. On those we handle the install side. We run the pre-made whip or set the quick-connect through the door and the frame, mount the hardware, and leave the connection ready for low voltage.
We don’t pull or terminate low-voltage cable. The low-voltage contractor does the hardwiring back to the access-control panel and the power supply. We hang it mechanically and hand off the whip, so the low-voltage crew can make their connections.
Where Our Scope Ends
What we don’t take.
On a door package, a few parts of the opening go to another trade. Here’s what we hand off.
No glass or glazing
Vision lites and any glazing go to the glass company on the job. We hang and dress the door.
No storefront or aluminum entrances
Aluminum storefront and entrance doors are the glazier's scope. We work hollow metal and wood.
No supply
We're labor only. The GC or a supplier furnishes the doors, frames, and hardware off the submittals, and we install it.
No low-voltage hardwiring
We install the electrified hardware and the whips or quick-connects. Pulling, terminating, and programming the wiring is the low-voltage contractor's work.
Why GCs Add Us
One crew for the whole door package.
We hang the doors and dress the hardware to the schedule, keep rated openings to their listing so they pass inspection, and staff the work so the openings aren’t the thing holding up your close-out. You get one crew for the leaves and the hardware and an itemized labor bid up front. We’re licensed and insured, and we leave the openings adjusted and working for the walkthrough. Most of this work is on the commercial buildouts we already run the finish scope on.
